BEGINING TO HALF WAY OF THE JOURNEY

I had arrived Norway on August 20, 2008 with lots of thoughts and energy to work with Norwegian Red Cross Youth. I was very excited to work with youths of Norway and eager to learn many things from them.

As a volunteer in Nepal Red Cross Society for five years I learned many things. I had started my volunteering journey since 2004 as a Red Cross Youth president on Tri-Chandra Multiple College while I am doing undergraduate. I always remember my colleagues who had supported me during my President ship in College. I had also worked as First-Aid and Search and Rescue volunteer in Kathmandu District Chapter. I am always thankful to all who had supported me to create a path for this journey. My volunteer experience helped me a lot to be here in Norway as a Youth Delegate, which was one of my dream to be a delegate.

After 12 hours flight from Nepal and 12 hours transit we arrived in Norway. Oh!! It’s cold!! I heard a sound don’t worry it will be colder hey!! She was Vibeke who was delegate in Nepal last year. I was very happy to see her coz I couldn't able to say her Bye when she returned back to Norway after finishing her journey as Youth Delegate in Nepal. We had some memorable times when she was in Nepal.

We had been in various trainings around one month’s, which are very useful for us for being a delegate. It was the time that we all 16 delegates are together for one month and we were very sad to detach and happy to be in new place. But we all told to be in touch during our abroad stay. But I feel that we were not in touch as I thought it might be due work load. Even though, we had a communication with each other but not as I hoped.

During this time I had shared mine experience and learned lot from various activities which we had done with local youth groups. Although, Norwegian youths had many things to do but also they are very active and trying to do best and we are also helping them fo. We had very good contact with all the local youth leaders and getting very good co-operation and help from them and also from all the staffs in our office. I had learned many things during my half way of journey. Till the date I had very excellent time here in Norway so I am gratified to all for making mine journey easy and making it preeminent.

Journey to Paris 2009

Paris is one of the dream destinations for tourists where I had also been as a tourist. Though thousands of people travelled to Paris everyday but they didn’t speak English which sound very strange. But it doesn’t matter for me. We just went to tourist information center and collected maps and just followed it. I was very happy to be there coz Paris is one of my dream destination.

New Year Celebration
I feel very strange coz people didn’t want to speak English and we didn’t know even a single world in French. But we went many places on 1st of January, 2009. We celebrated New Year taking French food and wine.

Tour Eiffel
We planned to climb the Eiffel tower on 1st of January but due to bad weather I postponed it for next day. Next day was perfect day to climb after 2 hours in queue we reached at the second floor and then to third floor.

Paris really looks very beautiful and I remain just looking around. I was little bit scared when we reached around 324 m it’s seems like scary from the top big building look like very small houses and vehicles looks like insects moving on the ground.

But well managed building gave it beautiful looks. We had been to the entire three floors from where it looks awesome. We also took many pictures.

Visit to Museum and historical places
We stayed six days and those days also seems very few days because a lots of places to see. We were almost running everyday to view maximum historical places.

We had taken Open tour by bus which helped to view all the important places in Paris. We had also seen the small and sweet picture of Monalisa, and many more things sculpture from 1800 to 2008, paintings. It’s really hard to explain all the things in word. I had been to almost all the important places as marked in tourist map.

Disneyland
We haven’t had a plan to go Disney land. But on the last day we decided to go there. We hoped to finish our visit within 4 hours but whole days was not enough? We had been too many important places as shown in map but due to lack of time we missed some places. It was really amazing places I feel that do I am in dream or it’s true. It was really out of mine imagination because we didn’t have many hi-tech things in our country Nepal. We are very rich naturally but scientifically we didn’t.

Journey to Lillehammer (27-30 Dec)

I just heard that Lillehammer was very beautiful places from many people. I was just thinking about the beauties of Lillehammer during our travel from Market to Lillehammer. On the way we were just looking around which was awesome just mine eyes remain looking and looking. Dense forest covered by snow and also lake and rivers are just freeze and looks like a big white ground. It looks very beautiful.

When we reached Gjøvik than our journey started with Ida and her father. It was very nice to be with them because they were explaining about the places. When we reached Lillehammer, it was really beautiful city.

When we reached there we visited our contact person Henriette’s house to celebrate her birthday. We also went for sliding in the forest it was wonderful and I enjoyed a lot. After returning back from sliding we all were gathered on her mother’s home to celebrate her birthday. It was amazing to know “Sami Dance” from her cousin and her mother played Violin .

We enjoyed every movement with her and thankful to all her family member. It was very grateful to be in her home and meet all of family member.

It was first time we are visiting Norwegian family. We had very good time and we enjoyed sharing culture, language and talking about religion Mt Everest with each other. It was very good experience and thanks to all the family member of our friend Ida. We also made Nepali food for her family.

It was a nice experience to be with the family. I felt like I was in my own home. We also visited Ida’s grandmother's house where we tested waffle which was very tasty. Even though we couldn’t understand each other language although Ida helped us as an interpreter. we talk a lot. Her grammother also showed us "SAMI DRESS" which looked very beautiful.

My overall experience was incredible. I found the beauty not only naturally but also in the people of Lillehammer too.
